Tallahassee, FL – Ten local County Farm Bureaus surrounding Tallahassee will sponsor our Annual Ronald McDonald House Food drive during Food Check-Out Week. The delivery of over $1,000 worth of fresh Florida-produced vegetables, fruits, meats and dairy products will be delivered to the Tallahassee Charity on Thursday, February 21, 2013.

County Farm Bureaus from Liberty, Gadsden, Wakulla, Leon, Jefferson, Taylor, Madison, Lafayette, Suwannee and Hamilton will be on hand for the delivery.

A fundamental part of our well-being society depends upon the domestic production of food. Our farmers and ranchers provide us with an abundant, nutritious and safe food supply throughout the years. Food Check-Out Week is February 17-23 and is a celebration of this continuing achievement.

“We are pleased to share this abundance with our neighbors at the Ronald McDonald House”, said Brenda Land, a dairyman’s wife from Mayo, Florida. Instead of giving 20 gallons of fresh Florida produced milk, we purchase gift certificates form the local Publix designated for the Charity to buy milk all during the year.

Our farmers and ranchers provide us with our basic national security. We urge you to join us in this community project.

Tallahassee, FL – Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tallahassee, Inc. and Capital Regional Medical Center are pleased to announce the grand opening of the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Capital Regional Medical Center and the first of its kind at an HCA facility.

Steps away from the pediatric inpatient unit, the Ronald McDonald Family Room offers a place for parents and families to rest and regroup at the hospital and still be just moments away from their sick child. “When families walk into a Ronald McDonald Family Room,™ we want them to forget they’re in a hospital – yet still know they are right there with their loved one,” says Kathy Anderson, President/Executive Director of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tallahassee, Inc.

Research shows that a family presence in the hospital helps children heal faster and cope better. Staying close-by allows parents to better communicate with their child’s medical team and improves adherence to complicated treatment plans.

“Capital Regional is honored to be home to this very important room that aids in the healing and caring environment that our littlest patients and their families deserve, says Brian T. Cook, President and CEO of Capital Regional Medical Center. We have worked diligently at expanding our services for pediatric patients through the opening of a Pediatric ER and an in-patient unit to accommodate the need in the community.”

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tallahassee, Inc. funds the Ronald McDonald Family Roomwithin Capital Regional Medical Center.  Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tallahassee, Inc. also operates its cornerstone program the Ronald McDonald House on 7th Avenue, awards grants to non-profits serving children and scholarships to high school seniors.

Expanding services with the opening of the Ronald McDonald Family Roomat Capital Regional Medical Center enables the charity to serve local families with hospitalized children that do not need to stay at the Ronald McDonald House since they can go home at night.

Services may vary from one Ronald McDonald Family Room to the next, but families will often find:

  • Internet access
  • A seating area with a television
  • A quiet room
  • Playroom filled with toys, video games, and activities

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tallahassee, Inc

is pleased to announce the expansion of its program services in 2011 to include a Healing Garden

As a home-away-from-home, the Ronald McDonald House provides comfort and shelter to the families of children fighting illness. It is a place of rest and rejuvenation after long days and nights at the hospital. The addition of a Healing Garden will enhance the therapeutic setting of the facility and complement the natural landscape. The Healing Garden extends the mission of Ronald McDonald House which creates, finds, and supports programs that directly improve the health and well being of children.
