To be considered for funding, an organization must be designated as not-for-profit and tax exempt as defined under IRS codes.  RMHC is most interested in programs that directly benefit children; have effective management; have clear goals and objectives; demonstrate ability to respond to the needs of specific groups of children in a manner that yields measurable results; and have a broad base of funding support.

Since 1997,  RMHC Global distributed more than 26 million dollars to over 4,000 programs – strengthening the impact of each  local grant. That totals more than 40 million dollars combining matching money with local grants to support playgrounds, child-care programs, camps, curriculum and school materials, medical equipment, after-school programs, athletic and recreation programs, computer software, as well as programs that teach children with disabilities.
